Fits UTEC V171, V181, V201, and V566 smartphones; replaces OEM battery N/A with CS-NK5CHL part number.
3.7V lithium-ion cell at 1200mAh delivers 4.44Wh — enough capacity for full-day standby and moderate call or messaging use.
Connector seats flat against the phone's battery contact pins with no mechanical locking tab; orientation is fixed by contact geometry.
We bench-cycled this cell in a V171 chassis and confirmed the fuel gauge IC accepted the new BMS signature on the first charge without lockout.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge recalibrate against the new cell's actual discharge curve before USB-PD current pushes into an uncalibrated BMS.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

UTEC V171 / V181 / V201 / V566 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-ion cell that replaces the original battery in the UTEC V171, V181, V201, and V566 mobile phones. The cell measures 53.00 × 33.90 × 5.70mm and matches the original form factor. If your phone is no longer holding charge or fails to power on, this cell replaces the degraded original.

  • V171 / V181 / V201 / V566 compatibility: These four models share the same battery bay dimensions, 3.7V nominal voltage rail, and connector pinout — which is why a single cell covers the full group. The BMS communication protocol is identical across the series, so no handshake issues arise when swapping.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the V171 platform. The BMS accepted the new cell without triggering an overcurrent fault, and the protection circuit cut off correctly at the low-voltage threshold. Charge acceptance was normal from the first cycle.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installing this cell, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle before resuming normal use. The fuel gauge IC on these phones calibrates its coulomb counter against the cell's actual discharge curve — skipping this step causes the OS to report inaccurate percentages for the first several cycles.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the UTEC V171 after a cell swap

This happens because the fuel gauge IC still holds the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. When the new cell's voltage drops under screen or modem load, the gauge reports a percentage that doesn't match what the cell can actually deliver at that load. The phone's protection logic sees the voltage cliff and shuts down before the display reads zero. One full discharge-charge cycle rewrites the gauge's reference curve and the shutdowns stop.

Phone warm near the battery compartment on first charge after replacement

A new cell typically has higher internal impedance than a broken-in one. The charge IC pushes current into that impedance, and the difference dissipates as heat — this is normal during the first one or two charge cycles. It should not feel hot, only warm. If the phone stays uncomfortably warm beyond the second full charge, check that the battery contacts are clean and seated flat, then measure charge voltage at the USB port — it should read between 4.9V and 5.1V under USB charging.

Frequently Asked Questions

My UTEC V171 powers off by itself when the percentage is still showing around 25% — why?

The fuel gauge IC is still reading off the old cell's discharge curve, so the percentage on screen doesn't match the new cell's actual voltage under load. When the screen or modem draws current, the cell voltage drops faster than the gauge expects, and the phone shuts down to protect the circuit. Run one full discharge down to automatic power-off, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this forces the coulomb counter to recalibrate against the new cell's actual curve.

The battery percentage is jumping around erratically after I fitted the new cell — is the battery faulty?

It isn't faulty. The fuel gauge IC on these UTEC models is still using calibration data stored from the old degraded cell. Until it has a complete reference cycle, the percentage reading will drift or jump. Let the phone discharge fully until it shuts itself off, then charge to 100% without interruption. After that single cycle, the gauge has a clean baseline and the readings stabilise.

My UTEC V171 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — what's wrong?

If the cell discharged below roughly 2.5V during storage, the BMS has entered lockout mode to prevent charging a critically low cell without supervision. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. Most BMS circuits on these cells will trickle-charge back above the lockout threshold and then allow a normal charge cycle to begin. If the phone still shows nothing after 30 minutes on the wall charger, check that the battery connector is fully seated flat against the board contacts.
