Fits Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro and Note 11i 5G, replacing OEM part BM5A.
3.87V nominal, 4900mAh capacity — standard for this phone's processor and modem draw under load.
Connector is soldered directly to mainboard; no physical connector type to swap.
We bench-tested this cell against the original discharge curve under modem load; BMS showed clean voltage regulation with no early cutoff events.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve before high-current charging resumes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro — 3.87V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BM5A)

This is a 3.87V, 4900mAh (18.96Wh) Li-Polymer cell replacing the OEM BM5A battery. It fits the Redmi Note 11 Pro (21091116C) and Note 11i 5G (21091116I). Install it when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the phone shuts down unexpectedly under load.

  • Redmi Note 11 Pro and Note 11i 5G fit: Both the 21091116C and 21091116I variants share the same BM5A form factor, connector pinout, and NTC thermistor line. The BMS handshake on these models uses the same authentication sequence, so the replacement cell is recognised at first boot without error codes.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Redmi Note 11 Pro unit. The BMS accepted the cell, fast-charge handshake completed on the second cycle, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold without hard-crashing the OS.
  • First-cycle calibration tip: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC build an accurate discharge curve against the new cell before high-current fast charging pushes current into an uncalibrated coulomb counter.

Why the Redmi Note 11 Pro shuts down suddenly at 20–30% after a cell swap

The fuel gauge IC stores a discharge curve calibrated to the original cell. A new cell with a different internal resistance profile hits a voltage cliff at a different state of charge than the IC expects. Under modem or display load, the cell voltage drops sharply, the BMS trips the low-voltage cutoff, and the phone powers off even though the gauge still shows 20–30%. One full uninterrupted discharge-to-shutdown followed by a complete charge resets the coulomb counter against the new cell's actual curve. After that cycle, the reported percentage tracks real capacity accurately.

USB-PD fast charge not accepted on first cycle after replacement

Some BM5A replacement cells present a slightly elevated impedance on the first charge because the electrolyte has not yet fully wetted the electrode stack. The charge IC reads this impedance, interprets it as an out-of-spec condition, and drops back to standard 5V charging rather than negotiating the higher-voltage fast-charge profile. Charge the phone once at standard rate until full, then fast charging typically resumes normally on the next session. If it does not resume after two standard-rate cycles, check that the cable and adapter are rated for the phone's fast-charge protocol — the handshake starts at the adapter end, not the battery.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Redmi Note 11 Pro battery percentage jumps around erratically after I installed the new BM5A cell — is something wrong with it?

Nothing is wrong with the cell itself. The fuel gauge IC is still running the discharge curve it learned from your old battery, and the new cell's voltage profile does not match it. The percentage readings will appear inconsistent until the IC recalibrates. Run one full drain — let the phone shut itself off naturally — then charge to 100% without interruption. The coulomb counter resets against the new curve and the readings stabilise.

The phone gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges after the swap — should I stop charging?

Mild warmth on the first two or three cycles is normal. A fresh Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in one, so the charge IC dissipates slightly more heat while it pushes current through the cell. Temperature should drop after the first three full cycles as impedance settles. If the phone feels hot to the touch — not just warm — or shows a temperature warning on screen, remove it from the charger and let it cool before continuing. Charge at standard rate (not fast charge) for the first two cycles to limit heat build-up.

The replacement BM5A battery arrived after sitting in storage — now the phone won't power on at all. How do I recover it?

A cell stored for several months can drop below 2.5V per cell, which triggers BMS lockout — the protection circuit disconnects the cell to prevent damage, and the phone cannot boot from it. Connect the phone to a low-current charger (a standard 5W USB adapter works better here than a fast charger) and leave it connected for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The BMS trickle-charges the cell back above the lockout threshold, after which normal charging resumes. Once the on-screen charge indicator appears and the battery reads above 3.0V, you can switch to your regular charger.
