Fits Yaesu VX-350, VX-351, and VX-354 handhelds; replaces FNB-V95Li, FNB-V96Li, and FNB-V96LiA cells.
7.4V nominal voltage at 2200mAh capacity delivers sustained transmit power across the VX-series platform without voltage sag during extended RF output.
Connector seats flush into the battery slot with vertical insertion; alignment tab prevents reverse insertion and ensures the contact strip engages cleanly.
We bench-tested this cell in a VX-351 dock; BMS accepted the handshake on first insertion and delivered full bar indication under loaded conditions.
If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly — the Yaesu platform requires a clean contact cycle to accept the new BMS handshake before charging begins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Yaesu VX-350 / VX-351 / VX-354 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (FNB-V95Li)

This is a 7.4V, 2200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Yaesu VX-350, VX-351, and VX-354 handheld two-way radios. It replaces OEM part numbers FNB-V95Li, FNB-V96Li, and FNB-V96LiA. Dimensions match the original pack at 100.00 × 56.90 × 21.40mm.

  • VX-350 series platform fit: The VX-350, VX-351, and VX-354 share the same battery bay geometry, contact layout, and BMS handshake protocol — one pack covers the entire line without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and transmit cycles on a VX-351. The BMS handled PTT-triggered current spikes without tripping into protection mode, and the dock accepted the handshake on first insertion.
  • First-insertion contact check: If the charger dock shows a fault LED on the first seating, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The Yaesu dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before charging begins.

VX-350 bar indicator reading low on a fresh FNB-V95Li pack

New li-ion cells ship at storage voltage — typically 3.6–3.7V per cell, not the 4.2V full-charge ceiling. The VX-350's voltage-threshold bar indicator reads that storage voltage as two or three bars, not four. This is not a fault with the pack. Run one full charge cycle in the dock and the indicator will reflect the actual charged state.

Radio cuts out mid-transmission on a new FNB-V95Li

Pressing PTT draws a sharp current spike — often 1.5A or more — as the transmitter ramps to full RF output. If the cell contacts are even slightly dirty or the pack isn't fully seated, internal resistance rises enough for the BMS to read an overcurrent event and cut the output. Remove the pack, clean the contacts, reseat until the latch clicks, then confirm the dock shows a solid charge LED before the next use. A fully charged pack at 8.4V should hold steady through sustained TX without dropout.

Frequently Asked Questions

The charger dock LED blinks and never goes solid after inserting the new FNB-V95Li — what's wrong?

A new pack shipped at storage voltage can sit below the Yaesu dock's acceptance threshold, causing the fault blink. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contacts with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly — the dock needs a clean contact to complete the BMS handshake. If the blink persists after reseating, leave the pack in the dock for five minutes; most Yaesu chargers will attempt a pre-charge recovery cycle and then transition to normal charging once the cell clears 6.0V.

The VX-354 drops to noticeably weaker audio and reduced TX range partway through a shift — is the pack failing?

This is voltage sag under sustained RF load, not pack failure. As the cell depletes past roughly 7.0V, the VX-354's power amplifier backs off output to stay within its operating window — audible as quieter received audio and shorter effective range. The fix is to charge the pack before voltage drops that far. Watch the bar indicator and swap or recharge when it falls to two bars rather than waiting for the low-battery warning.

The FNB-V95Li sat unused for several months and now the dock won't charge it at all — is it dead?

Extended storage can drop the cell voltage below the dock's minimum acceptance threshold, triggering BMS lockout. The pack isn't necessarily dead. Place it in the dock and check for any LED activity within ten minutes — some Yaesu chargers will pulse a trickle current to recover a pack down to around 5.5V before switching to normal charge mode. If there is no LED response after fifteen minutes, try a different known-good charger; if that also shows nothing, the cells have discharged past the BMS recovery floor and the pack needs replacement.
