Fits Zebra TC22 and TC27 handheld scanners, replacing OEM battery part numbers BT-000473 and BTRY-TC2L-2XMAXX-01.
Delivers 3.85V at 3700mAh capacity—sufficient for full-shift barcode scanning and wireless data transmission in retail and warehouse pick-and-pack workflows.
Uses Zebra's proprietary connector with positive contact on the right face and mechanical locking tab that seats with firm downward pressure into the battery slot.
We tested the BMS under consecutive high-current scan trigger pulses and radio polling cycles; the cell held voltage regulation without false cutoff during rapid consecutive scans.
After installing this cell, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before using in pick-and-pack—the scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum and a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS trips on the first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Zebra TC22 / TC27 — 3.85V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BT-000473)

This 3.85V, 3700mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM pack in the Zebra TC22 and TC27 mobile computers. It fits the handheld directly and mates with standard Zebra single-slot and multi-slot charging cradles. Capacity figure is 14.25Wh — matching the original cell specification.

  • TC22 and TC27 shared platform: Both devices run on the same battery platform — identical voltage rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One SKU covers both models with no adapter or modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through scan-burst sequences on a TC22 unit. The BMS held voltage steady across rapid trigger pulls and maintained the wireless radio link without dropping to low-power mode.
  • First shift prep for pick-and-pack operations: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before the first shift. Scan trigger inrush is highest when the cell is near minimum charge, and a fully conditioned pack prevents false BMS trips during the opening hour of a high-volume pick run.

Cradle charging error on a new TC22 battery pack

Zebra cradles read the battery's charge state through gold contact pins on the pack base. If those contacts have handling residue or slight oxidation from storage, the cradle can report a fault instead of initiating a charge cycle. This is not a defective cell — it is a contact resistance issue. Wipe the pack contacts and cradle contacts with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat firmly. The cradle should show a solid amber charge indicator within 10 seconds of reseating.

TC22 dropping wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

During a fast scan sequence, the imager and the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth radio draw current simultaneously. On a depleted or degraded cell, this combined inrush pulls voltage below the BMS threshold, triggering a brief radio disconnect to protect the cell. The scanner stays on, but the network link drops — often misread as a Wi-Fi infrastructure fault. The fix is to keep the pack above 30% charge during high-frequency scan shifts. If the drops persist on a fully charged new pack, check that the TC22 firmware is current, as some earlier builds had aggressive power-save cutoffs set at 3.6V rather than 3.5V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My TC22 stopped reading barcodes right after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?

The imager needs a minimum voltage to fire the illumination and decode engine reliably. A new pack shipped in storage state may sit at 3.5V or below, which is enough to power the display but not enough to sustain a clean scan trigger. Seat the battery in the charging cradle first and let it reach at least 3.7V before pulling the trigger. Once the charge indicator clears, the imager should read without issue.

The TC22 feels noticeably warm after a long warehouse shift — is that a battery problem?

Sustained heat in the TC22 housing comes from the combined draw of the imager, wireless radio, and processor running concurrently through a shift. The battery itself generates some heat as it discharges, and in an enclosed housing that heat accumulates. This is normal behaviour under continuous scan-and-transmit workloads — not a fault. If the device is hot enough to trigger an on-screen thermal warning, rotate to a second pack and let both units cool before the next shift cycle.

We swapped to a new battery but shift endurance is noticeably shorter than our old pack — what should we check?

New Li-ion cells often need two to three full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. If the pack hasn't been through those cycles yet, early shift cutoff is expected. Also check the TC22's wireless polling interval and scan trigger sensitivity settings — both directly affect how hard the battery works per hour. Run two full cradle charges back-to-back, then measure shift length again before assuming the pack is undersized.
