Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

DALLAB DP900 / xg 500p — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (GB/T18287-2000)

This is a 3.7V, 2600mAh (9.62Wh) Li-ion battery for the DALLAB DP900 and xg 500p handheld PDA units. It replaces the original cell when capacity fade makes the device unusable through a full work shift. Fits the standard battery bay with no modification.

  • DP900 and xg 500p compatibility: Both units run the same 3.7V single-cell architecture and share the GB/T18287-2000 form factor. The connector pinout and BMS communication protocol match across this platform, so the same cell covers both models.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on PDA-class test rigs. The onboard BMS handled thermal monitoring correctly and cut off at the expected low-voltage threshold without locking the charge circuit.
  • Sync before you swap: PDA devices like the DP900 hold open files and application state in RAM powered directly by the main battery. Pull the cell without syncing to a host first and that unsaved data is gone. Do a full host sync before removing the battery.

Why the DP900 won't boot after a new battery is installed

A brand-new Li-ion cell ships at a storage charge — typically around 3.0V to 3.3V. The DP900 boot sequence requires a minimum voltage threshold before it will initialise the OS. If you drop a fresh cell in and press power with no result, the battery is not faulty — it just hasn't been charged yet. Connect to a charger for at least 30 to 60 minutes before attempting to boot, and the unit should respond normally.

Battery indicator reading full but device dying mid-scan

The DP900's fuel gauge calibration is tied to the original cell's discharge curve. After swapping to a new battery, the gauge can report inaccurate percentages until it completes one full charge-discharge cycle. Meanwhile, the barcode scanner LED and active wireless radio draw significantly more current than standby, which can trigger the low-voltage cutoff faster than the gauge suggests. Run one complete charge from flat to full, then discharge under normal scanning load, and the indicator will recalibrate to reflect actual remaining capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

My DP900 lost all my open data when I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes, and it is a known characteristic of SRAM-based PDA storage. The DP900 holds active application state and unsaved data in RAM that is powered continuously by the main battery. The moment the cell is removed, that RAM loses power and the data is gone. Always perform a full sync to the host computer before pulling the battery — that is the only way to protect open files.

The DP900 screen stays black after fitting the new battery — what do we check first?

New Li-ion cells ship at storage voltage, usually 3.0–3.3V, which is below the minimum the DP900 boot sequence needs to initialise. We see this on the bench regularly — it is not a fault with the unit or the battery. Charge the device for at least 30–60 minutes before pressing the power button, and it should boot normally. If it still won't respond after a full charge, check that the battery contacts are clean and fully seated.

Wireless sync keeps dropping on the DP900 since I installed a new battery — why?

The DP900's radio draws a sharp burst of current during active sync, and this can cause a voltage sag if the new cell hasn't been properly conditioned yet. We found that cells fresh out of the box can show brief voltage dips under radio load until they've completed at least one full charge cycle. Run the battery to full charge, let it discharge under normal use, then charge to full again. After that conditioning cycle, check that the unit reads at least 3.7V before attempting a wireless sync session.
