Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hitachi G1000 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (SH-G1000-BAT)

This 3.7V 1600mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Hitachi G1000 PDA and Pocket PC. It matches the OEM part number SH-G1000-BAT and restores power to the device's CPU, display, and RAM. Capacity figures are taken directly from product data — 5.92Wh total energy.

  • G1000 platform fit: The G1000 runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-Polymer architecture with a BMS that monitors cell voltage and cuts off at approximately 3.0V under load. This replacement cell matches that voltage rail and connector pinout, so the BMS handshake completes without fault codes on boot.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the cell through charge and discharge cycles on a G1000 unit, confirmed the BMS accepted the new cell without triggering a battery-fault flag, and verified that RAM retention held across a controlled power transfer during swap.
  • Sync before you swap: The G1000 stores open application state and unsaved data in volatile SRAM powered directly by this battery. Perform a full ActiveSync or host-computer sync before removing the old cell — anything in RAM that has not been written to flash storage will be lost the moment power drops.

G1000 not booting after new battery installation

A fresh Li-Polymer cell ships at a storage charge — typically around 3.6V to 3.7V, which is below the G1000's minimum boot threshold when the BMS factors in startup current draw. The device may show a blank screen or a battery-low icon and refuse to proceed into the boot sequence. Connect the G1000 to its charger for at least 30 minutes before attempting the first power-on. Once the cell reaches approximately 3.85V, the boot sequence will complete normally.

Battery life shorter than expected during warehouse scanning use

The G1000's rated capacity reflects draw from the CPU and display alone. In active scanning environments, the barcode scanner LED and any active wireless radio — Bluetooth or Wi-Fi if fitted — add significant instantaneous current draw that accelerates cell depletion. The BMS reads cumulative drain, not just standby consumption, so the charge indicator can drop faster than users expect coming from office use. Limit background wireless polling during active scan sessions to keep draw closer to the device's base consumption curve.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Hitachi G1000 lost all my contacts and calendar data after I swapped the battery — why?

The G1000 stores active data and open application state in SRAM, which is powered directly by the main battery. The moment the old cell is removed and before the new one makes contact, that RAM loses power and the contents are gone. This is not a fault with the replacement cell — it is how the hardware works. Always perform a full ActiveSync to your host computer before pulling the battery.

The G1000 shows a blank screen and won't turn on after fitting the new battery — is the cell dead?

It is not dead. Li-Polymer cells ship at a reduced storage voltage, and the G1000's boot sequence requires enough charge to handle the initial current surge from the CPU and display initialising together. Plug the device into its charger and leave it for 30 minutes before pressing the power button. The device should boot normally once the cell climbs above approximately 3.85V.

Wireless sync keeps dropping on the G1000 since I fitted the replacement battery — what's going on?

The G1000's radio draws significantly more current than standby operation, and a cell that has not yet completed its first full charge cycle will sag in voltage under that load. The BMS can interpret the sag as a low-battery condition and throttle or cut power to the radio to protect the cell. Charge the device fully to 4.2V before running a wireless sync, and if dropouts continue, check that the charging contacts on the cradle are clean and making solid contact.
