Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dejavoo Z9 Black / Z8 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 3.7V, 3400mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the Dejavoo Z9 Black, Z9 v4, and Z8 payment terminals. It restores wireless operation for card transactions when the factory battery no longer holds a usable charge. Capacity data comes from the product specification — 12.58Wh at 3.7V nominal.
- Z9 Black, Z9 v4, and Z8 compatibility: These three terminals share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. The charge IC in each model negotiates with the same cell parameters, so one replacement covers all three without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through repeated charge and full-draw discharge sequences on a Z9 Black unit. The BMS accepted the cell on first boot, voltage held at 3.7V nominal under combined wireless, display, and printer load with no cutoff events triggered.
- First transaction cycle after installation: Complete one full transaction — card tap or swipe through receipt print — before deploying the terminal in a live environment. The Z9 maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one complete power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator correctly.
Payment terminal rebooting mid-transaction after battery swap
The Z9's thermal printer draws a sharp current spike the moment it starts printing a receipt. On a new or recently installed cell, the BMS may read that spike as an overcurrent event and trigger a protective cutoff — which the terminal registers as a sudden power loss and restarts. This is not a faulty battery. The BMS needs one or two transaction cycles to learn the load profile before it stops treating the printer surge as a fault condition. Run two complete transactions — card read through receipt print — and the reboot behaviour typically stops.
Terminal not completing PCI boot sequence on new battery
The Z9 runs a PCI-mandated self-test during every boot that draws a sustained current load before the screen comes on. If the replacement cell hasn't passed its first charge-acceptance handshake with the charge IC, the terminal may stall or restart partway through this sequence. Connect the terminal to its original charger and let it reach a full charge — the battery indicator will move off the flashing icon — before attempting to boot. Once the charge IC has completed one full top-off cycle, the BMS handshake is accepted and the boot sequence completes normally.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Dejavoo Z9 Black battery indicator is stuck at 99% and won't move to 100% — is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong. The charge IC on the Z9 enters a top-off mode when a new Li-ion cell is first installed, holding at 99% while it trickle-charges to verify the cell accepts a full charge safely. This can last 30–60 minutes on first charge. Leave the terminal connected to its charger without interruption and the indicator will step to 100% once the top-off cycle completes.
My Dejavoo Z8 was sitting unused in a drawer for several months and now won't power on at all — can the battery recover?
A Li-ion cell left in a discharged state for months can drop below 2.5V, which is the threshold where the Z8's BMS locks out normal charging to prevent damage. Connect the terminal to its original charger and leave it undisturbed for at least two hours — some charge ICs include a trickle pre-charge mode that slowly brings a deeply discharged cell back above 2.8V before switching to normal charge current. If the charging indicator activates within that window, the cell is recovering. If the terminal shows no charging activity after two hours, the cell has dropped too far to recover and replacement is needed.
The Dejavoo Z9 v4 gets noticeably warm during a busy transaction period — is that a battery issue?
Warmth during heavy use is normal for this terminal. The Z9 v4 runs its display, wireless radio, and thermal printer simultaneously during busy periods, and the combined draw generates heat from both the cell and the charge management circuitry. The battery is not at fault unless the terminal also displays a temperature warning or shuts down unexpectedly. If shutdown occurs, let the terminal rest unpowered for five minutes to allow the BMS thermal sensor to reset, then reboot — sustained shutdown suggests a ventilation or ambient temperature issue at the counter, not a defective cell.
