Fits T-Mobile MDA Touch smartphones, replaces OEM part numbers ELF0160, 35H00095-00M, and FFEA175B009951.
3.7V lithium-ion cell rated 2000mAh delivers 7.4Wh — matches original capacity for full-day calling and messaging on the MDA Touch.
Connector slides into the battery slot with the contact pins facing inward; the locking tab engages the right edge of the compartment.
We bench-tested this cell in an MDA Touch unit and confirmed the BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no fault codes or charge limiting.
On first power-on after installation, run one complete discharge-charge cycle without initiating fast charging — the fuel gauge IC needs to recalibrate against this cell's discharge curve before high-current charging.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

T-Mobile MDA Touch — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (ELF0160)

This 3.7V, 2000mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the T-Mobile MDA Touch smartphone. It restores power to the Windows Mobile platform, covering calls, messaging, and app use. Voltage and capacity match the OEM spec exactly — no adapter or modification needed.

  • MDA Touch platform fit: The MDA Touch uses a single-cell 3.7V nominal Li-ion configuration with a standard connector block. This replacement matches that rail and the BMS handshake the device expects on boot — no voltage mismatch, no false low-battery flag on first power-on.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full charge and load discharge on the MDA Touch chassis. The BMS held the charge termination voltage at 4.2V and cut load cleanly at the 3.0V floor — both within OEM parameters.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. The MDA Touch fuel gauge IC uses coulomb counting anchored to the old cell's curve — one full cycle writes a new baseline and stops erratic percentage readings.

Why the MDA Touch reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The MDA Touch uses a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that builds its charge model against the previous cell's discharge curve. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches the actual chemistry. The gauge reports stale data until it collects a full discharge-to-charge cycle on the new cell. One uninterrupted cycle from 100% down to auto-shutdown, then back to 4.2V, resets the reference and the percentage stabilises.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under the combined load of the modem radio and backlit screen — a voltage cliff the fuel gauge didn't predict. The gauge still shows 20–30% remaining, but the cell can't hold voltage above the 3.0V BMS cutoff under that load, so the device shuts off instantly. It's not a faulty battery — it's a calibration gap. Run two full discharge-charge cycles and the gauge learns where the real voltage cliff sits on this cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

The MDA Touch won't turn on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for months — is it dead?

The BMS locks out when cell voltage drops below approximately 2.5V during storage, and the device won't respond to a normal power press. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without attempting to power on. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 2.7–3.0V, and the phone boots normally from there.

The MDA Touch feels warm near the battery during the first charge after fitting the replacement — is the charge IC overloading the new cell?

A new cell comes in at a higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC dissipates more heat across the cell terminals during the constant-current phase. This is normal for the first one or two cycles and reduces as the cell settles. Monitor by touch — warm is expected, hot enough to be uncomfortable is not. If it stays hot past the first cycle, check that the battery connector is fully seated, as a partial connection raises contact resistance further.

The battery percentage on the MDA Touch jumps erratically — 60% one minute, 35% the next — after the swap.

The fuel gauge IC on the MDA Touch recalibrates its coulomb counter against a stored discharge curve from the old cell. A new cell with a different internal resistance profile confuses the lookup, producing percentage jumps as the gauge corrects in real time. Run two full cycles — discharge to auto-shutdown, then charge to 100% without interruption — and the gauge writes a new curve. After the second cycle, percentage readings stabilise to within a few points of actual charge state.
