Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ecovacs W830 / W850 / W930 — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (INR14500-3S)
This is a 14.8V, 800mAh Li-ion battery pack for the Ecovacs W830, W830-RD, W850, and W930 robotic vacuum cleaners. It replaces part number INR14500-3S and powers the drive motors, suction fan, and navigation electronics. When the original cell degrades after repeated cycles, cleaning runs shorten and suction drops early — this pack restores normal operation.
- W830, W850, and W930 platform compatibility: These models share the same 14.8V four-cell battery rail, connector housing, and BMS handshake protocol. The INR14500-3S pack fits all of them because the voltage and communication signal are identical across the range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on W830 hardware. The BMS responded correctly to the robot's charge termination signal and triggered overcurrent protection cleanly under a simulated filter-blocked motor load.
- Dock charging behaviour on the W830: Remove the W830 from the dock once the charge indicator shows full. Leaving it docked indefinitely keeps the cells at terminal voltage under a trickle current — this accelerates capacity fade faster than normal cycling does.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator shows low
This happens when the motor draws more current than the pack can sustain cleanly — voltage sags under load even though the BMS reports adequate charge. On a degraded cell, this gap between indicated capacity and usable voltage widens quickly. A new INR14500-3S pack restores the voltage floor the suction motor needs to maintain consistent airflow. If suction still drops early after fitting a new pack, check the filter — a partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw above its rated current, which triggers the same symptom.
Motor cuts out mid-cycle then restarts on its own
This is an overcurrent trip from the BMS, not a loose connection or software fault. When airflow is restricted — by a full dustbin, a blocked filter, or carpet fibres caught in the brush roll — the motor pulls sustained high current and the BMS shuts the output to protect the cells. The pack resets once current drops, which is why the robot restarts a few seconds later. Clear the filter and brush roll first. If the cutout continues on an unblocked machine, the original pack's cells have degraded to the point where normal motor-start current is enough to trip the threshold — replace the battery.

Frequently Asked Questions
My W830 stops mid-clean and restarts by itself — is that the battery dying or something else?
That self-resetting cutout is the BMS tripping on overcurrent — it shuts output when sustained motor current exceeds the cell's safe limit, then resets once the load drops. On a worn pack, even normal motor-start current can hit that threshold. First, clean the filter and brush roll to rule out a restriction forcing the motor to overwork. If it still cuts out on a clear machine, the cells have degraded too far to handle start-up current — replace the INR14500-3S pack.
The W830 runs for a short time compared to when it was new, but the battery indicator never shows low before it stops — why?
The indicator reads state of charge, not the voltage the motor actually sees under load. As Li-ion cells age, internal resistance rises — voltage sags during high-draw moments even when the pack still holds charge at rest. The robot's firmware reads this sag as a shutdown condition before the indicator catches up. A partially blocked filter makes it worse because the motor draws above rated current the whole run. Fit a new INR14500-3S pack and clean the filter, then check whether runtime returns to normal.
I leave my W830 on the dock between every use — could that have killed the original battery faster?
Yes. Continuous dock charging holds the cells at full terminal voltage under a low trickle current, and Li-ion cells degrade faster when stored at maximum charge than when cycled normally. The W830's dock does not drop to a true storage voltage after the initial charge completes. Charge the replacement pack to full, then remove the robot from the dock and only return it to charge when the battery is depleted.
