Fits Electrolux Progress POP5-21TG stick vacuum. Replaces OEM part T-DC38F battery pack.
21.6V 2000mAh lithium-ion cell powers the motor through full cleaning cycles on hard floors and carpet.
Battery slides into the dock connector with a spring-loaded locking tab on the left side of the unit.
We ran charge cycles on a bench Electrolux dock — BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no fault codes.
Do not leave this battery on the charging dock continuously. Cordless vacuums on permanent dock charge develop capacity fade from trickle current damage faster than units charged only when depleted.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Electrolux Progress POP5-21TG — 21.6V Li-ion Replacement Battery (T-DC38F)

This is a 21.6V 2000mAh Li-ion battery pack for the Electrolux Progress POP5-21TG cordless stick vacuum cleaner. It replaces OEM part T-DC38F and fits the POP5-21TG directly. Voltage and capacity match the original specification at 43.2Wh.

  • POP5-21TG platform fit: The POP5-21TG runs a 21.6V motor rail with a specific BMS handshake. This cell pack matches that voltage profile and connector pinout, so the vacuum's power board recognises the battery and allows normal motor start.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the POP5-21TG platform. The BMS held voltage under motor-start load and did not trigger a false overcurrent cutoff during normal floor cleaning cycles.
  • Dock charging habit for the POP5-21TG: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock continuously between uses. The POP5-21TG dock does not cut power once the cell is full, so trickle current keeps flowing. Charge to full, then remove the vacuum from the dock until the next use.

Cordless vacuum losing suction before the battery indicator reaches low

This happens when the motor draws more current than the BMS allows under restricted airflow. A partially blocked filter forces the motor to work harder, pulling amps above the BMS trip threshold. The BMS interprets this as an overcurrent event and throttles output voltage before the indicator has a chance to drop. Clean or replace the filter first — if suction recovers immediately, the battery was not the fault.

Motor cutting out mid-clean and then recovering after a short pause

This is a thermal or overcurrent BMS trip, not a dead cell. The BMS cuts the discharge circuit when current spikes — usually from sustained suction restriction or a carpet blockage — then resets once the protection circuit cools or clears. The pause you notice is the BMS re-enabling the discharge path. If it happens repeatedly, check the filter and brush roll for blockage before assuming the battery is faulty. A clear airpath should bring sustained motor voltage back to the normal 21.6V operating range.

Frequently Asked Questions

My POP5-21TG replacement battery charged fully but suction drops off well before the indicator shows low — is the new cell already bad?

Not necessarily. A restricted filter forces the motor to draw excess current, which causes the BMS to throttle output voltage even when the cell still has charge. The indicator measures cell state, not motor load — so it lags behind what the motor actually experiences. Clean the filter and check the brush roll for blockage first. If suction holds after that, the battery is fine.

The vacuum ran well for a few months and now cuts out after a short time, then restarts if I leave it a minute — what's happening?

This is the BMS tripping on overcurrent, then resetting once the protection circuit clears. It usually points to a partially blocked airpath making the motor pull more amps than the BMS allows on a sustained basis. Remove and clean the filter, clear the brush roll, and run again. If the cutout stops, the cell was not the issue — restricted airflow was driving the overcurrent event.

I've been leaving my POP5-21TG on the dock after every clean — could that have damaged the original battery, and will the same thing happen to the replacement?

Continuous dock charging is the most common cause of capacity fade in this vacuum. The POP5-21TG dock does not stop supplying current once the cell is full, so the battery sits under a trickle charge indefinitely. Over weeks that degrades cell capacity. With the replacement, charge to full and physically remove the vacuum from the dock — that single habit change is what protects the new cell long-term.
