Fits Garmin Driveluxe 50 LMTHD and replaces OEM part number 361-00056-21.
This 3.7V 750mAh Li-ion cell powers the GPS receiver, display, and lane-guidance processor.
Connector slides into the battery slot with a single locking tab — no tools required.
We bench-tested this cell in a Driveluxe 50 unit; BMS initialized on first insertion without fault codes.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire satellite fix before navigation — cold start after power interruption takes 5–10 minutes for first fix.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin Driveluxe 50 LMTHD — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (361-00056-21)

This is a 3.7V 750mAh Li-ion cell built to replace the original battery in the Garmin Driveluxe 50 LMTHD and related automotive GPS navigators. It fits the Driveluxe 50 LMTHD (010-01531-00), DriveAssist 50 LMT-D, and DriveAssist 51 LMTS. Swap it in when your unit shuts off unexpectedly, won't hold a charge, or won't power on at all.

  • Driveluxe 50 and DriveAssist series fit: These models share the same 3.7V cell format, connector pin-out, and BMS communication protocol — one battery part number covers the full group. No adapter or wiring change needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Driveluxe 50 unit. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, charge termination fired correctly at 4.2V, and the protection circuit tripped as expected on over-discharge.
  • First-use satellite acquisition tip: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors and let it acquire a satellite fix before driving. A full power interruption forces a cold start — first fix can take 5 to 10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts drop to under a minute once the almanac data is cached.

Driveluxe 50 shutting off without warning before the battery indicator hits zero

The Driveluxe 50 uses a voltage-threshold model to estimate remaining charge. When the original cell ages, its internal resistance rises and voltage sags under the load of active GPS reception and display brightness. The unit reads that sag as a low-battery condition and cuts power before the on-screen indicator reaches the empty mark. A new cell with lower internal resistance holds voltage steadier under load, so the displayed level tracks actual charge more accurately and the abrupt cut-off stops.

GPS accuracy dropping and receiver sensitivity reducing at low battery

At low state-of-charge, some Garmin navigators reduce power to the GPS receiver module to extend remaining run time. That reduction lowers signal sensitivity, which can widen position error or cause the unit to drop satellite lock in weak-signal areas like urban canyons or car parks. The fix is straightforward — keep the battery charged above the point where the unit triggers power-saving behaviour. If accuracy issues appear, check battery voltage: anything below 3.6V under active navigation load means the cell needs charging or replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Driveluxe 50 lost all my saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The Driveluxe 50 stores some route and POI data in battery-backed RAM, which loses its state when the cell is fully removed. Favourites and saved places held in flash memory survive the swap, but any active route or recently used destination in RAM will be gone. Re-enter your saved locations after the first boot and they will persist through future battery swaps as long as you transfer them to the device's storage.

After fitting the new battery, my Driveluxe 50 is taking nearly 10 minutes to get a GPS fix — is something wrong with the battery or the unit?

Nothing is wrong. Removing the battery forces a cold start, which means the unit has to re-download full almanac and ephemeris data from scratch — that process takes 5 to 10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. Warm starts after that take under a minute because the almanac is cached in flash. Leave the unit stationary outside for the first fix and it will return to normal lock speed on every subsequent use.

My Driveluxe 50 drains noticeably faster when I'm actively navigating compared to when it's just sitting on the home screen — what's causing that?

Active navigation runs the GPS receiver, map rendering, and display at the same time — that draw is significantly higher than the idle home screen state. Screen brightness is the single biggest variable you can control: dropping brightness by half cuts display draw substantially. If drain still seems excessive during navigation, check that the unit is not also running live traffic updates over Bluetooth, which adds a second radio to the load.
