Fits Garmin Zumo 400, Zumo 450, Zumo 500, and Zumo 500 Deluxe—replaces OEM part numbers 010-10863-00, 011-01451-00, and 011-01451-03.
3.7V at 3400mAh delivers the same energy capacity as the original cell—sufficient for full-day navigation on a single charge during typical route planning and turn-by-turn operation.
Connector slides into the battery slot with a small locking tab on the left side—orientation is fixed; the cell seats flush against the GPS housing when fully inserted.
We bench-tested this cell in a Zumo 400 under active navigation and satellite tracking—the BMS powered the unit cleanly without early cutoff, and the fuel gauge tracked accurately from full charge to shutdown threshold.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation use—GPS performs a cold start after power interruption that takes 5–10 minutes for the first fix versus under a minute on subsequent warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin Zumo 400 / 500 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (010-10863-00)

This 3.7V 3400mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Garmin Zumo 400, 450, 500, and 500 Deluxe motorcycle GPS navigators. It matches OEM part numbers 010-10863-00, 011-01451-00, and 011-01451-03. Capacity is drawn from product data at 12.58Wh — not estimated.

  • Zumo 400 / 450 / 500 series compatibility: These models share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell fits the full range. The protection circuit communicates state-of-charge to the Zumo firmware the same way across all variants.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a Zumo 500 unit. The BMS negotiated correctly with the device, hit the full 3.7V nominal rail without tripping the over-voltage cutoff, and reported charge percentage accurately in the status bar.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after fitting: After any full power interruption, the Zumo performs a GPS cold start. Power the unit on outdoors with a clear sky view and leave it stationary — first satellite fix typically takes 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts drop under a minute once almanac data is cached.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the Zumo series

When cell voltage drops below roughly 3.5V, some Zumo units reduce GPS receiver sensitivity to extend operating time. The result is fewer tracked satellites and a wider position error — the blue dot drifts or locks onto a parallel street. A degraded original battery spends a large portion of each ride in this low-voltage window. A new cell at full capacity keeps the receiver running at full sensitivity for the bulk of the charge cycle.

Zumo shuts off without warning before the battery indicator hits empty

This happens when the device's fuel gauge is calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve and the replacement cell has a slightly different curve shape. The indicator still shows one or two bars, but the actual cell voltage has already crossed the unit's hardware cutoff threshold. To recalibrate, run the Zumo down to automatic shutdown from a full charge at least twice — the firmware rewrites its low-voltage threshold mapping after two full cycles and the indicator will align with actual remaining capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Zumo lost all saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The Zumo stores some navigation data in battery-backed RAM, and a full power removal wipes that volatile memory. Saved favourites stored to internal flash survive the swap, but active routes and recently used destinations held in RAM do not. After fitting the new cell, re-sync the unit with Garmin Express or re-import your GPX route files to restore them.

The Zumo is shutting off mid-ride even though the battery bar still shows charge — what's causing it?

The fuel gauge calibration is off. The device maps its low-battery cutoff to the original cell's discharge curve, and a new cell with a slightly different curve hits hardware cutoff voltage before the indicator drains visually. Run two full charge-to-shutdown cycles and the Zumo firmware will re-map the threshold — after that, the indicator will match actual cell voltage at cutoff.

Active turn-by-turn navigation drains the Zumo battery much faster than standby — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong — this is expected load behaviour. Active navigation runs the GPS receiver continuously, keeps the display lit, and recalculates routes on the fly, pulling significantly more current than standby. A degraded original cell makes the gap feel worse because it sags under load. With a fresh 3400mAh cell, keep screen brightness below maximum and enable the auto-backlight timeout to reduce draw during straight sections.
