Fits Garmin GPSMAP 276, GPSMAP 276c, GPSMAP 296, GPSMAP 376 and nine other models; replaces OEM part numbers 010-10517-00, 011-00955-00, 010-10517-01.
7.4V at 3000mAh delivers the voltage and capacity this GPS navigator needs for sustained color display and active satellite reception during extended navigation sessions.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with no locking tab; ensure positive terminal faces the spring contact before seating fully.
We ran full navigation cycles with active map display and satellite tracking; the BMS held stable voltage throughout discharge with no early cutoff events.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation — cold start after power interruption takes 5–10 minutes for first fix versus under one minute for subsequent warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin GPSMAP 276 / 276c / 296 / 376 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (010-10517-00)

This is a 7.4V, 3000mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Garmin GPSMAP 276, 276c, 296, and 376 series portable GPS navigators. It replaces OEM part numbers 010-10517-00, 011-00955-00, and 010-10517-01. The cell fits the original battery compartment and connects to the device's onboard BMS without modification.

  • GPSMAP 276 / 276c / 296 / 376 compatibility: These models share a common battery form factor, voltage rail, and connector pinout across the series. The BMS on each unit checks cell voltage at startup — this replacement meets that handshake at 7.4V nominal with no firmware flag.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on a GPSMAP 276c unit. The BMS accepted the cell cleanly, charge termination triggered correctly at full voltage, and no low-cell warnings appeared during discharge.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after fitting: After installing this battery, power the unit on outdoors with clear sky view before your first trip. A full power interruption resets the satellite almanac, so expect a cold-start fix of 5–10 minutes on first use. Subsequent warm starts return to under a minute.

GPS accuracy dropping at low battery on the GPSMAP 276 series

When cell voltage drops below roughly 6.8V, the GPSMAP 276 series throttles receiver sensitivity to protect the BMS from a hard cutoff. This shows up as position drift or a wider accuracy circle on the moving map — not a hardware fault. The GPS receiver draws more current than the display, so sensitivity reduction is the unit's way of extending usable voltage headroom. Recharge the battery before voltage sags below that threshold to keep receiver performance stable.

GPSMAP 276 shutting off without a low-battery warning

After fitting a new cell, the GPSMAP 276's battery indicator needs a full discharge cycle to recalibrate its voltage-to-percentage mapping. Until that cycle completes, the indicator can read 20–30% while actual cell voltage is already near the BMS cutoff threshold — the unit then shuts off with no visible warning. Run one full charge-to-discharge cycle in the device to let the indicator recalibrate. After that cycle, the low-battery alert will trigger at the correct voltage before cutoff.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GPSMAP 276 lost all saved routes and waypoints after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The GPSMAP 276 stores some route and waypoint data in battery-backed RAM. A full power removal — which happens during a battery swap — can flush that volatile memory. Before swapping, use the device's built-in data transfer or connect to Garmin's MapSource software to back up routes and waypoints to a PC. After fitting the new battery, reload from the backup file.

Satellite lock is taking 8 minutes after the battery swap — something wrong with the unit?

Nothing is wrong. Removing the battery clears the satellite almanac the GPS uses for a fast fix. Without that almanac, the unit has to perform a full cold start, which takes 5–10 minutes with clear sky view. Power the device on outdoors, leave it stationary, and let it complete the cold start. The next power cycle will be a warm start and lock in under a minute.

Active navigation is draining the new battery noticeably faster than standby mode — what's causing it?

During active navigation the GPS receiver runs continuous satellite tracking, the colour display stays at full brightness, and the processor recalculates the route position every second. That combination pulls significantly more current than standby. Lower screen brightness to the lowest usable level — the display is the second-largest draw after the receiver. If you need longer sessions, keep the unit shaded; high ambient temperature also increases cell self-discharge under load.
