Fits MLS Destinator Talk&Drive 43SL and Talk&Drive 43SL A GPS navigators replacing the original 3.7V cell.
This 3.7V 800mAh lithium-ion pack restores full navigation power to the Talk&Drive 43SL handheld GPS unit.
Connector seats into the battery compartment slot with positive contact alignment; no locking tab present on this model.
We bench-tested the cell against Talk&Drive 43SL hardware; BMS engaged normally on first insertion with no voltage delay.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire satellite fix before navigation—cold start after power interruption takes five to ten minutes for first fix.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

MLS Destinator Talk&Drive 43SL — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V 800mAh Li-ion cell replaces the internal battery in the MLS Destinator Talk&Drive 43SL and Talk&Drive 43SL A portable GPS navigators. It fits the slim battery bay directly and matches the original voltage and form factor at 47.90 x 44.10 x 5.55mm. Capacity is rated at 800mAh (2.96Wh) — identical to the factory cell.

  • Talk&Drive 43SL and 43SL A compatibility: Both variants share the same battery bay dimensions, connector orientation, and voltage rail. The BMS in each unit reads the same charge curve, so there is no handshake difference between the two models with this cell.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the Talk&Drive platform. The protection circuit held cutoff voltage correctly and the BMS accepted charge without error flags or thermal events.
  • First-fix cold start after fitting: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors and let it acquire a satellite fix before driving. Removing battery power wipes the GPS receiver's ephemeris data, so the first fix after a swap is a cold start — allow 5 to 10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the Talk&Drive 43SL

When cell voltage drops below roughly 3.5V, some GPS receivers reduce radio-frequency sensitivity to shed power load. On the Talk&Drive 43SL this shows up as wider position error or brief signal dropout during active navigation. The position scatter is not a software fault — it clears once the battery is charged back above 3.6V. If accuracy issues appear regularly, check the battery indicator first before suspecting antenna or firmware problems.

Talk&Drive 43SL shuts off without warning before the indicator hits zero

The on-screen battery indicator on this unit is calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A worn original cell loses capacity while the indicator logic stays fixed, so the displayed level and actual remaining voltage drift apart. After fitting a fresh cell, the indicator re-learns the curve over two or three full cycles. Until then, the unit may cut off at what appears to be 20–30% remaining — this is the voltage threshold at approximately 3.4V being hit before the visual warning catches up.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Talk&Drive 43SL lost all my saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The Talk&Drive 43SL stores some route and POI data in battery-backed RAM. When the battery is fully removed, that volatile memory loses power and the data clears. To avoid losing routes in future, export or sync saved data before pulling the cell. Routes stored on the internal flash or SD card are unaffected by battery removal.

Satellite lock is taking 5 to 10 minutes after fitting the new battery — something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Full power removal wipes the GPS receiver's ephemeris cache — the satellite position data it uses for a fast lock. Without that cache the receiver runs a cold start, which takes 5 to 10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. After the first successful fix the cache rebuilds, and subsequent locks drop back under a minute. Take the unit outside and leave it stationary until the first fix completes.

Active navigation drains the Talk&Drive 43SL battery much faster than standby — why?

During active navigation the GPS receiver runs at full sensitivity, the display stays on at high brightness, and the processor handles continuous map rendering. That combination draws significantly more current than standby, where the screen dims and position updates slow. Reducing screen brightness during navigation is the most effective single step to extend a charge cycle on this unit — the display is the largest variable load in active use.
