Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin gWind Wireless Series — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (361-00075-00)
This is a 2.4V, 700mAh Ni-MH cell that replaces the original battery in the Garmin gWind Wireless and gWind Wireless Transducer wind sensor units. It fits the transmitter module that sends real-time wind speed and direction data to compatible Garmin chartplotters. Voltage and capacity match OEM spec exactly — no modification required.
- gWind Wireless and Transducer compatibility: Both the standard gWind Wireless (010-01248-00) and the Transducer variant share the same battery housing, connector, and BMS handshake. One cell covers both units.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the gWind platform. The BMS accepted the cell without error, completed a full charge cycle, and the unit resumed normal transmission to the chartplotter.
- Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the unit on and allow the connected chartplotter to re-acquire the wind sensor signal before heading out. A full power interruption resets the sensor link — allow 5–10 minutes for the chartplotter to re-establish data from the transmitter on first power-up.
Why the gWind Wireless drops off the chartplotter display at low charge
Ni-MH cells lose voltage gradually as capacity depletes, but the gWind transmitter has a hard cutoff threshold — typically around 2.0V under load. Below that, the unit stops transmitting before the battery reads visually "dead." The chartplotter shows no wind data, not a low-battery warning. This is a transmitter-side cutoff, not a chartplotter fault. Fitting a fresh cell and cycling power restores transmission immediately.
Wind data frozen on chartplotter after battery replacement
After a full power interruption, the gWind transmitter and chartplotter must re-pair over the 2.4GHz ANT wireless link. The chartplotter may show the last known wind reading as frozen rather than blank. Go to the chartplotter's sensor settings and trigger a fresh device scan. Once the transmitter is re-detected, live wind data resumes — confirm the reading is updating by watching for direction changes over 30 seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions
My chartplotter shows wind speed frozen at the same number — is the sensor dead or is it the battery?
A frozen reading almost always means the transmitter lost power and the chartplotter is displaying the last cached value. The gWind transmitter cuts off before the battery appears fully depleted — voltage drops below the transmitter's 2.0V load threshold and it stops sending. Replace the cell, then go into the chartplotter's wireless sensor menu and run a fresh scan to re-establish the live data link.
The gWind came back online after the battery swap but the wind direction reads way off — what happened?
A full power interruption can reset the gWind's heading offset calibration stored in the unit. The transmitter itself doesn't retain calibration data without power. Re-run the wind sensor calibration routine from the chartplotter — this is typically under Settings > My Vessel > Wind Sensor Calibration — and rotate the unit through the calibration sweep as prompted.
The new battery drains noticeably faster when we're actively sailing versus sitting at the dock — is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong. Active sailing means continuous transmission at higher update rates as wind speed and direction change rapidly. At the dock in stable conditions, the gWind transmits less frequently and draws less current. Ni-MH self-discharge also accelerates slightly in warm engine-room or below-deck storage — keep the sensor mounted in open air when possible to reduce ambient temperature around the cell.
