Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GE Mack Link — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (2076585-002)

This 3.7V, 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM cell in the GE Mack Link portable diagnostic device. It matches the original voltage rail and connector used in the Mack Link platform. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a charge or triggers persistent low-battery warnings during patient examinations.

  • Mack Link platform fit: The Mack Link uses a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion pack with a BMS that handshakes with the device firmware at startup. This replacement uses the same cell chemistry and connector pinout, so the BMS negotiation completes without error flags.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge, full-load discharge, and BMS verification. The protection circuit held voltage within spec under continuous draw, and the charge IC accepted a full charge cycle without triggering fault codes.
  • Post-swap startup protocol: After installing this battery, let the Mack Link complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The BMS runs a chemistry verification at boot — cutting power mid-sequence creates a false battery fault that sticks until the next clean reboot cycle.

Device not completing boot sequence on a new Mack Link battery

The Mack Link BMS runs a verification pass during the boot sequence to confirm cell chemistry and state-of-charge. A new cell arriving partially discharged from storage may read below the firmware's minimum boot threshold, which halts startup before the device reaches the home screen. This is a BMS gate, not a faulty battery. Charge the replacement fully before the first boot — confirmed full charge reads 4.2V at the cell terminals — then power on and allow the self-test to finish uninterrupted.

Charge indicator not reaching 100% on the first charge cycle

On the first charge, the Mack Link's charge IC applies a conservative current limit to an unrecognised cell, which causes the indicator to stall below 100% or take significantly longer than expected. This is normal behaviour — the IC is profiling the new cell before committing to a full-rate charge. Complete one full charge-discharge cycle, and the charge IC recalibrates its upper limit. After that first cycle, the indicator will reach 100% at the standard rate.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Mack Link is alarming low battery immediately after I charged the replacement — why?

The BMS uses a state-of-charge threshold calibrated to the OEM cell's charge profile. A new replacement cell hasn't completed a learn cycle, so the BMS may misread its actual capacity and trip the low-battery alarm even at full charge. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle on the device before clinical use. After that cycle, the BMS recalibrates and the alarm clears.

The Mack Link won't power on at all after the replacement cell sat in a drawer for a few months — is it dead?

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if the voltage drops below approximately 3.0V, the Mack Link BMS enters a protection lock that blocks startup entirely. The cell itself is usually recoverable. Connect the device to its charger and leave it for at least two hours without pressing the power button — the charge IC will apply a trickle current to bring the cell above the recovery threshold before switching to full-rate charge.

The Mack Link is shutting off mid-examination after the battery swap — what's causing it?

New Li-ion cells handle load stress differently in the first ten cycles — the internal resistance is slightly higher before the cell is broken in, which causes momentary voltage sag under the device's peak draw. The Mack Link BMS interprets that sag as a low-voltage cutoff condition and shuts the device down as a protection measure. Run five to ten full charge-discharge cycles before relying on the battery in clinical use, and the sag will reduce as cell resistance normalises.
