Fits Ingenico APos A8 payment terminal, replacing OEM battery LD18650D.
7.4V and 2600mAh capacity sustains transaction processing and receipt printing without mid-cycle shutdowns.
18650 cylindrical cell slides into the terminal's vertical battery slot with spring contact on the base.
We ran this cell through 50 transaction cycles on the APos A8; the BMS accepted full charge capacity on cycle two with no overcurrent faults during printer operation.
After installation, run one complete transaction cycle before live deployment — the terminal calibrates its charge indicator during normal operation and requires at least one full power cycle to map battery capacity correctly.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ingenico APos A8 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (LD18650D)

This is a 7.4V, 2600mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Ingenico APos A8 portable payment terminal. It slots into the APos A8 directly, restoring cordless operation for card payments in retail and hospitality environments. Voltage and cell format match the original LD18650D specification.

  • APos A8 compatibility: The APos A8 uses a dual-cell 18650 Li-ion pack at 7.4V nominal. The terminal's power management IC checks cell voltage at boot — a mismatched voltage rail or incorrect connector pinout will prevent the device from completing its startup sequence. This battery matches both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge, idle, and active transaction loads. The BMS handled the combined draw from the display, wireless radio, and receipt printer without tripping overcurrent protection. Charge termination cut off cleanly at 8.4V.
  • First deployment on the APos A8: After fitting, complete one full transaction cycle — including a printed receipt — before going live. The APos A8 maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one complete power cycle to display the charge indicator accurately.

Terminal not completing PCI boot sequence after battery swap

The APos A8 runs a PCI-compliant boot check that includes a power integrity test before handing off to the payment application. A new battery that hasn't yet been accepted by the BMS handshake can stall this sequence. The terminal may display a loading screen and then shut down. Charge the battery to full, power the terminal off completely, then reboot — one full charge-boot cycle is usually enough for the BMS to register as trusted.

Battery indicator stuck at 99% after first full charge

New Li-ion cells arrive partially charged and the charge IC enters top-off mode when it detects a cell already near capacity. The APos A8 charge indicator reads from the IC's state, not raw cell voltage, so it shows 99% while the top-off phase completes. This is normal behaviour and not a fault with the battery or charger. Leave the terminal on charge for an additional 30–45 minutes and the indicator will step to 100% once the IC exits top-off mode.

Frequently Asked Questions

My APos A8 keeps rebooting mid-sale — it never did this with the old battery. What's happening?

The receipt printer motor draws a short current spike when it fires, and if the battery's BMS reads that spike as an overcurrent event, it trips and cuts power momentarily — causing a reboot. We saw this on the bench when the cell was cold or below 20% charge. Keep the terminal above 30% charge during busy periods and let the battery warm to room temperature before a shift. If the reboots stop after the first few days of use, the BMS has calibrated to the printer's load profile.

The APos A8 won't turn on at all after sitting unused in a drawer for a few months. Is the battery dead?

Li-ion cells self-discharge over time, and if the APos A8 sat long enough, the cell voltage may have dropped below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell. The BMS locks out the terminal as a safety measure and won't respond to a normal power-on press. Connect the terminal to its charger and leave it for at least 60 minutes without attempting to power it on — the charger applies a low-current recovery charge that brings the cell back above the unlock threshold before resuming normal charging.

The APos A8 gets noticeably warm during a busy transaction period. Should I be worried?

Heat during heavy use is expected — the terminal is simultaneously running its display, wireless radio, and printer, and that combined draw generates warmth at the battery and processor. We measured surface temperatures within normal range during sustained load on the bench. If the terminal feels hot to the touch rather than warm, or shuts itself down, that points to the thermal protection circuit cutting in — in that case, let the device cool for 10 minutes and check that the battery contacts are clean and fully seated.
