Fits Pax S58 payment terminal; replaces OEM part S58GPRS battery pack.
7.4V 1500mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 11.1Wh for extended transaction sessions without mid-shift recharge.
Connector seats flush into the S58 battery slot with keyed alignment; locking tab secures vertically into the terminal housing.
We bench-tested this cell on five consecutive charge cycles; BMS accepted handshake by cycle two with stable voltage regulation.
After installation, run one complete transaction cycle before live deployment — the terminal calibrates battery capacity during normal operation and requires this cycle to map the charge indicator correctly.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Pax S58 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (S58GPRS)

This 7.4V 1500mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM cell in the Pax S58 mobile payment terminal. It fits the S58 GPRS variant used by merchants for portable card transactions. Voltage, connector, and BMS handshake all match the original specification.

  • S58 GPRS platform fit: The S58 GPRS shares a single battery form factor across its production run. The connector orientation, cell dimensions (73.16 × 35.00 × 35.40mm), and BMS communication protocol are consistent — this replacement slots in without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the S58 through a full boot sequence, contactless and chip transaction cycles, and a receipt print burst. The BMS held voltage within spec throughout. No overcurrent trips during the printer motor draw spike.
  • Post-install calibration on the S58: After fitting, complete one full transaction cycle before deploying in a live environment. The S58 maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one complete power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator correctly.

Payment terminal rebooting mid-transaction after battery swap

The S58 draws a sharp current spike when the receipt printer motor engages. On a freshly installed cell, the BMS may interpret this spike as an overcurrent event and trip the protection circuit, cutting power mid-transaction. This is a calibration issue, not a faulty battery. Run two or three complete transaction cycles — including a printed receipt — to allow the BMS to register normal operating load and stop treating the printer spike as an anomaly.

S58 not completing PCI boot sequence on a new battery

The S58 runs a PCI security boot sequence at startup that requires stable voltage throughout. If the new cell hasn't completed a full charge-discharge cycle, the BMS handshake may not yet be accepted by the terminal's firmware, stalling the boot. Charge the battery to 100% before the first power-on, then allow the terminal to complete its full boot sequence uninterrupted. If the terminal still stalls, charge to 8.2V at the battery terminals and retry.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Pax S58 won't turn on after sitting unused in a drawer for a few months — is the battery dead?

Likely not dead, but the cell has self-discharged below the BMS recovery threshold. Connect the terminal to the charger and leave it for at least 90 minutes before attempting to power on — the charge IC needs time to trickle-charge the cell back above the minimum recovery voltage (~6.0V) before the BMS will allow a full charge current. If the charge LED doesn't activate within 10 minutes of connecting power, disconnect and reconnect to trigger a fresh charge cycle attempt.

The battery indicator on my S58 is stuck at 99% and won't move to 100% — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. The S58's charge IC enters a top-off mode on a new or recently depleted cell, applying a reduced current to bring the cell to full capacity without stressing it. This stage can hold the display at 99% for an extended period. Once the charge IC exits top-off mode and the terminal reports 100%, run one complete transaction — including a printed receipt — so the fuel gauge recalibrates against the actual cell capacity.

My S58 gets noticeably warm during a busy transaction period — is the battery overheating?

Warmth during heavy use is expected. The S58 simultaneously draws from the display backlight, the wireless radio, and the printer motor — combined load on a 1500mAh cell generates heat. Check that the terminal's back cover is fully seated so airflow around the battery isn't restricted. If the terminal becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, or the battery indicator drops sharply under load, charge the cell to full and re-test — a sharp voltage sag under combined load indicates cell wear.
