Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Milink GPS-K146 7" AV Player & Navigation — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery
This 3.7V, 1400mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Milink GPS-K146 and the wider 7" AV player & navigation platform. It restores power to both the GPS receiver and the media playback functions when the factory cell can no longer hold a usable charge. Dimensions are 63.00 × 42.00 × 4.60mm — measure your existing cell before fitting.
- GPS-K146 platform fit: The GPS-K146 shares its battery bay and connector pinout with the broader Milink 7" AV navigation series. The cell voltage rail at 3.7V nominal matches the device's power management IC, so the BMS handshake completes without a calibration flag.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the navigation platform, confirming the BMS accepted the cell at first connection and that the charge controller reached cutoff at 4.2V without thermal event.
- First satellite fix after fitting: After fitting this cell, power the unit fully on outdoors and let it acquire a satellite fix before use. GPS performs a cold start after any full power interruption — first fix can take 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts drop under a minute once ephemeris data is cached.
GPS-K146 shutting off without warning during active navigation
When the original battery ages, its actual capacity falls well below the rated 1400mAh, but the on-screen indicator stays miscalibrated against the old cell's discharge curve. The device reads the voltage and reports 20–30% remaining right up until the cell hits the low-voltage cutoff threshold. Fitting a new cell resets the discharge baseline, but the indicator will not recalibrate until the unit completes at least one full charge-discharge cycle. Run the device from 100% down to auto-shutoff once to let the power management IC re-anchor its voltage-to-percentage mapping.
Saved routes and POIs missing after battery swap
Some navigation data on the GPS-K146 is held in battery-backed volatile RAM rather than written to flash on every update. A full power removal — which happens during a battery swap — wipes whatever was buffered but not yet committed to storage. Favourites and recent destinations stored in flash survive the swap; actively recorded routes or unsaved POIs do not. Before swapping the cell, export any critical routes to the device's SD card slot so they can be reloaded after power-on.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Milink GPS-K146 is taking forever to find satellites after I put in the new battery — is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong. Removing the battery clears the ephemeris data the GPS receiver uses to locate satellites quickly, forcing a cold start on first power-up. Cold starts on this platform take 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. Move away from buildings, leave the unit powered on, and do not start navigating until the fix indicator confirms a lock — subsequent starts will be under a minute once the data is rebuilt.
The Milink shows it still has battery left but cuts off mid-route without warning — why?
The on-screen percentage is calibrated against the old cell's discharge curve, so it reads inaccurately against a new cell until recalibration occurs. The device hits the low-voltage hardware cutoff at around 3.0V while the display still shows charge remaining. Run one complete cycle — charge to full, navigate until the unit shuts itself off — and the power management IC will re-anchor its voltage-to-percentage curve against the new cell.
Active navigation drains this battery much faster than just playing music on the same device — is the battery faulty?
It is not faulty. The GPS receiver and the backlit 7" display running simultaneously draw significantly more current than audio playback alone. The GPS radio is a continuous high-draw load; add maximum screen brightness and the discharge rate can be two to three times higher than standby use. Reduce screen brightness to 50% during navigation and the draw drops noticeably — the GPS receiver load stays constant, but display backlight is the other large variable you can control.
