Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BMW Motorrad Navigator V / VI — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (361-00063-00)
This is a 7.4V, 920mAh Li-ion cell built to replace the original battery in the BMW Motorrad Navigator V and Navigator VI 6 Endurance GPS units. It fits the mounting footprint at 52.70 × 34.40 × 10.60mm and matches the OEM voltage rail the navigation board expects. Drop this in when the original cell no longer holds enough charge to complete a ride.
- Navigator V and VI shared platform: Both units run the same 7.4V two-cell Li-ion pack with the same connector and BMS handshake. The Navigator VI Endurance variant uses identical cell dimensions and voltage thresholds, so one part number covers both generations.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge passes on the Navigator V board. The BMS accepted the pack without fault flags, and the protection circuit held cutoff cleanly at the low-voltage threshold without tripping early.
- Cold-start satellite acquisition after power removal: After fitting this cell, power the GPS on outdoors before you ride. A full power interruption clears the warm-start cache, so the receiver runs a cold start — expect the first satellite fix to take 5–10 minutes. Subsequent power cycles lock in under a minute once the almanac is rebuilt.
Why the Navigator V shuts off without warning at low battery
The Navigator V reads battery level from a voltage curve that the device calibrates over time. After a battery swap, that curve is out of sync with the new cell. The device may show two or three bars and then cut off seconds later because the shutdown threshold is hit before the indicator catches up. Run two or three full charge-discharge cycles to let the device re-calibrate the voltage-to-percentage mapping. After that, the low-battery warning will fire at the correct point — around 6.8V under load.
Saved routes and POIs missing after battery replacement
Some Navigator V firmware versions hold recent route data and POI caches in battery-backed RAM rather than flash storage. A complete power removal — which happens during a battery swap — clears that volatile memory. Favourites stored to the internal flash partition survive, but unsaved tracks or recently imported POI sets may not. Before swapping the cell, export any active routes via the USB connection to a PC using the BMW Navigator software, then re-import after the new battery is fitted and the unit powers on cleanly.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Navigator V took over 10 minutes to get a GPS fix after I put in the new battery — is something wrong with the unit?
Nothing is wrong. Removing the battery clears the warm-start data the receiver uses to lock quickly, forcing a cold start from scratch. A cold start on the Navigator V typically takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. After that first fix, the almanac rebuilds and subsequent locks drop back under a minute.
The Navigator V is draining this battery noticeably faster when I'm actively navigating versus just sitting on the bike at a stop — why?
Active navigation runs the GPS receiver, map rendering, and backlit display simultaneously. That combination draws significantly more current than standby. The biggest single drain is screen brightness — dropping the display brightness one or two steps in the Navigator V settings reduces active draw enough to extend usable ride time noticeably. Also check that the unit is receiving power from the bike's 12V accessory socket while riding, so the battery is not the primary source during navigation.
My Navigator V shows full battery but the GPS accuracy is noticeably worse near the end of a long ride — is that the battery or the antenna?
Some GPS units step down receiver sensitivity when internal voltage drops below a threshold, even if the display still shows bars. On the Navigator V, this typically happens when cell voltage under load falls below roughly 7.0V. The reduced sensitivity narrows the number of satellites tracked, which degrades position accuracy. Recharge the unit fully and check whether accuracy returns at full charge — if it does, the cell is the cause, not the antenna.
