Fits Telex TR-800, TR-825, TR-700, and TR-1 wireless headsets; replaces OEM part BP-700NM and BP-800NM.
7.2V, 2000mAh Ni-MH cell delivers sustained current for DECT radio and audio without voltage sag during calls.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a spring-loaded locking tab on the housing frame.
Bench testing showed stable voltage delivery under combined talk-and-receive load; BMS accepts charge cycle in base station without fault codes.
On first use, charge the headset in the base station for a complete cycle before taking calls — the base needs to register the new cell before talk-time estimates stabilize.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Telex TR-800 / TR-825 Series — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BP-700NM / BP-800NM)

This 7.2V, 2000mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the BP-700NM and BP-800NM packs in the Telex TR-800 wireless headset system. It also fits the TR-825, TR-700, and TR-1, plus three additional models in the same family. The cell block and connector match the original factory configuration.

  • TR-800 family compatibility: The TR-800, TR-825, TR-700, and TR-1 all share the same 7.2V Ni-MH cell format and base-station charging interface. Telex standardised this across the range so the same pack works in each cradle without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through a full charge cycle in a TR-800 base station and confirmed the BMS handshake completed correctly. The base registered the pack, moved through the charge stages, and held at the expected float voltage without fault indication.
  • First-cycle base station protocol: On first use, seat the headset in the base station and let it complete one full uninterrupted charge before making a call. The TR-800 base logs the new cell during this cycle — skipping it causes the talk-time indicator to report inaccurately until the logging completes.

Base station not recognising the new pack after swap

The TR-800 base station uses a cell-recognition handshake during the initial charge cycle. If the pack was inserted while the base was powered off, or removed before the first cycle completed, the base may show no charge activity or a fault LED. Remove the headset, power-cycle the base by unplugging it for 30 seconds, then reseat the headset. The handshake restarts from scratch and the base should begin charging within two minutes.

Headset cutting out mid-call on a freshly charged pack

The TR-800 headset draws current from two loads simultaneously — the audio circuit and the DECT radio transmitter. During active transmission, this combined draw can cause a momentary voltage sag that triggers the pack's low-voltage protection, even when the cell is not empty. This most often appears in the first three charge cycles, before the Ni-MH cells have reached full capacity. Run three complete charge-and-discharge cycles through the base station and the sag threshold will stabilise.

Frequently Asked Questions

The TR-800 base shows a full charge but the headset cuts out after a few minutes of use — why?

A Ni-MH pack that has been sitting at storage voltage behaves this way until it has completed one full charge cycle. The cell voltage reads high enough to satisfy the base station's charge termination logic, but the actual usable capacity is low until the cells are properly cycled. Seat the headset in the base, let it run a complete uninterrupted charge, then discharge it fully through normal use and charge again. After two to three cycles the cut-out should stop.

The headset gets noticeably warm during extended calls — is that normal with a new pack?

Some warmth is expected. The TR-800 housing is compact and the Ni-MH cells generate heat during sustained discharge, especially when the DECT radio and audio circuit are both active at the same time. A new pack running its first few cycles runs slightly warmer than a conditioned one because the internal resistance is higher before the cells settle. If the headset becomes hot enough to be uncomfortable to wear, check that the charging contacts on both the headset and base are clean — dirty contacts cause the base to overcharge, which carries over as residual heat into the call.

Talk time is much shorter than rated on this new battery — does it improve?

Yes. Ni-MH cells do not deliver full rated capacity straight out of the box. The 2000mAh rating reflects capacity after the cells have been conditioned. Expect noticeably shorter talk time for the first three to five charge cycles, with each cycle recovering a measurable amount of capacity. Run each cycle fully — charge in the base station until the indicator clears, then use the headset through a normal shift before recharging. By cycle five the capacity should be close to the rated 2000mAh.
