Fits Golf Buddy Voice GPS Rangefinder with OEM part number YK372731 or PL482730 replacement.
This 3.7V 280mAh Li-Polymer cell powers the handheld rangefinder through a full round of voice distance callouts.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a single locking tab — no force needed to seat.
We ran five charge cycles on a Voice model; the BMS accepted full voltage without early cutoff or thermal delay.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before use — GPS performs a cold start after power interruption that takes five to ten minutes for first fix versus under a minute for subsequent warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Golf Buddy Voice GPS Rangefinder — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (YK372731)

This 3.7V 280mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Golf Buddy Voice GPS Rangefinder, VS4 GPS Rangefinder, and Voice Plus models. It fits the compact internal bay and matches the OEM connector and BMS handshake. Dimensions are 33.00 × 25.90 × 4.30mm — measure your existing cell before fitting if you are unsure of your variant.

  • Voice and VS4 series compatibility: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, 3.7V nominal rail, and Li-Polymer BMS profile. The YK372731 and PL482730 part numbers both cross-reference to this cell — either OEM code confirms the correct fit.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge, standby, and active GPS acquisition states. The BMS held the charge floor at the correct cutoff voltage and did not trip during satellite acquisition draw spikes.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after fitting: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors and let it acquire a full satellite fix before heading out. GPS devices perform a cold start after any complete power interruption — first fix typically takes 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts run under a minute.

GPS accuracy dropping at the end of a round

Some Golf Buddy units reduce GPS receiver sensitivity as battery voltage falls below a threshold to conserve power. This shows up as yardage readings that update slowly or jump between values on the back nine. A degraded original cell loses voltage headroom faster, pushing the unit into low-power receiver mode earlier in the round. Fitting a fresh cell restores full receiver voltage and keeps sensitivity at its normal operating level throughout 18 holes.

Device shuts off without a low-battery warning

The battery indicator on the Voice series reads state of charge from voltage curves stored during factory calibration. An aged or swollen cell has a flattened discharge curve — voltage stays relatively high until it drops sharply, giving the indicator almost no time to show a warning before the BMS hits cutoff. If the unit is going dark mid-round with no warning, the cell voltage is collapsing faster than the indicator can track. After fitting this replacement, run one full charge-to-cutoff cycle so the unit can re-reference its indicator against the new cell's voltage curve — charge to 4.2V and use until the device shuts off naturally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Golf Buddy lost all my home course data after swapping the battery — is that normal?

Yes, and it is a known side effect of full power removal. The Voice series stores course data and user settings in battery-backed RAM, which loses state the moment the cell is disconnected. Pre-loaded course maps are retained in flash memory and will reload on first boot, but custom settings and any manually saved data will need to be re-entered. Power the unit on, reconnect to the Golf Buddy app or PC software if you use it, and resync your preferences.

The unit shuts off mid-round without showing a low battery warning first — why?

A degraded cell has a steep voltage drop at end of discharge rather than a gradual one, so the device's battery indicator has no time to register low before the BMS hits cutoff. This replacement cell restores a normal discharge curve that the indicator can track. After fitting it, run one full cycle — charge completely, then use the unit until it shuts off on its own — so the voltage curve and indicator align correctly. The cutoff threshold on this cell is 3.0V.

Satellite lock is taking 10 minutes or more every time I turn the unit on — is the GPS receiver damaged?

The GPS receiver is almost certainly fine. Any complete power interruption — including a battery swap — forces a cold start, which means the unit has lost its last known position, time reference, and satellite almanac data. Cold starts routinely take 5–10 minutes outdoors to acquire a full fix. Once the unit has locked on once with the new cell installed, subsequent warm starts drop back under a minute. Stand outside in open sky and leave the unit powered on until the yardage display populates.
