Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Schweizer LED Magnifier — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (PL903040)
This 3.7V 1100mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the internal battery in the Schweizer LED Magnifier. It fits the cordless handheld unit used for low-vision assistance, jewellery inspection, and precision hobby work. Dimensions are 43.50 × 29.40 × 8.60mm — measure your existing cell before ordering.
- Schweizer LED Magnifier platform fit: The PL903040 cell format is matched to this magnifier's internal bay. The connector polarity and BMS handshake align with the device's charge management circuit, so the fuel gauge reads correctly after installation.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench. The BMS held the cutoff voltage at the correct threshold and the charge indicator responded normally throughout the test sequence.
- First-cycle brightness setting: Run the first full charge cycle at 50% screen brightness. High backlight draw on the initial cycle can skew the battery indicator calibration — it tends to report capacity inaccurately until the cell completes one clean cycle at moderate load.
Image colour shifting before the battery indicator shows low
The display driver in LED magnifiers is voltage-sensitive. As the cell depletes toward 3.5V, the backlight circuit starts to dim and colour balance shifts before the battery indicator triggers its low-battery warning. This happens because the indicator threshold is set lower than the point where display quality degrades. The screen is the first component to show the voltage drop — the battery meter is not. If colours look washed out or warm, check the cell voltage directly; it is likely near 3.5V.
Magnifier not charging after battery swap
Li-polymer cells can enter a deep-discharge protection state during storage or shipping. If the device shows no charge activity after fitting the new cell, the BMS may need a re-initialisation pulse. Connect the magnifier to its original charger — not a generic USB port — because the charging circuit requires a minimum input voltage to wake a deeply discharged cell. Hold the connection for at least five minutes before checking for a charge indicator response. A USB power bank or low-output port may not supply enough voltage to trigger the recovery sequence.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Schweizer magnifier screen flickers when I turn the brightness up — is this a battery fault?
Yes, this is a voltage sag issue under backlight load. At maximum brightness, the LED backlight draws a current spike that pulls the cell voltage down momentarily, and the display controller interprets that sag as an instability. A worn or newly fitted cell with an uncalibrated fuel gauge makes this worse. Run one full charge cycle at 50% brightness first, then test at full brightness — if flickering stops, the cell is fine and the indicator just needed calibration.
The battery drains much faster at maximum brightness than it used to — why has the new cell changed that?
The backlight is the single largest power draw in this device, and maximum brightness can account for the majority of total current consumption. A new cell at full capacity will still drain faster at full brightness than at reduced brightness — that is normal, not a fault. If drain seems excessive even at mid-brightness, check that the charge cycle completed fully to 4.2V before first use. Reduce brightness to the lowest comfortable setting for routine tasks to get the most use per charge.
After fitting the new PL903040, the charge indicator jumps around and never shows full — what is wrong?
The fuel gauge in the Schweizer LED Magnifier calibrates itself during the first complete charge-discharge cycle. Until that cycle finishes, the indicator reading is unreliable and will jump or plateau early. Charge the device uninterrupted to 4.2V using the original charger, then use it until the low-battery warning appears, then charge fully again. After that one full cycle, the gauge should track accurately.
